At Texwin, we don’t cut corners on quality. Our building frames are made with 14-gauge G60 AZ50 KSI Galvalume steel tubing, which is 43% stronger and 50% more corrosion-resistant than standard 14-gauge G40 AZ35 KSI steel.
For siding, we use 26-gauge G60 AZ50 Galvalume steel with, which is 33% stronger and 44% more corrosion-resistant than standard 29-gauge G40 AZ35 steel. All siding is pre-painted with a premium 20-year paint system, so your building keeps looking sharp for decades.
*Portable buildings use 29-gauge siding.
If you purchase a 12’W x 20’L carport, the frame width will be 12’ and the length will measure 20’. For an 18’W x 30’L carport or garage, the width will be 18’ and the length will be 30’. Their will be a 6” overhang on horizontal roofs.
**Note: Vertical roofs do not have an overhang.
Before we can install your metal building, you need to be sure the designated site is clear of any debris or vegetation, is level, and accessible to our crew. The installation team must be able to drive within 50 feet of the site or additional labor fees will be charged of 4% to carry the material further. If you are not having the unit installed on concrete, we can still erect the building on your property as long as it is level. You are also responsible for 811 underground ,covenant searches, rights-of-way, the site prep, and obtaining any required permits. Please keep in mind that trees, houses, fences, outdoor buildings, and other obstacles can cause setbacks with our delivery and installation. Please make sure there are no power lines near the designated site as it is also illegal to install buildings under overhead powerlines. If you neglect to notify us of these impediments in writing, charges may accrue.
The spacing between the frame legs and bows is generally 5 feet on center. On structures with a roof pitch greater than 3/12, the frame legs and bows are 4 feet on center.
Your Sales & Design Consultant will confirm the spacing based on the final design of your building when ordering.
Your structures frame size is an outside measurement. For example, a 12×25 frame is 12×25, a 20×20 frame is 20×20 and a 24×30 is frame size 24×30 and so on. If you have questions about this please contact us for more information. There are frame drawings as part of your contract so make sure you know your frame size before pouring your slab.
A concrete pad should be the same size as the frame of the building, not larger because water can seep under the base rail and into the building. The frame dimensions are on your contract, call and ask if you have questions. Do not make your slab larger than the building, this will cause water leaks.
All garage type door should have a door recess in the slab 6″ wider than the door and protrude 5-6’s in side the building and approximately 1-2″s deep. ( a 2×6 works well here.) This will not allow water to enter the building under the door. Look at the garage door on most modern homes for example.
Can concrete flex enough to damage my steel building?
Yes! Because of our expansive clay soils. This is easier to imagine if you think of gumbo clay as a sponge or an accordion in that it expands significantly as it absorbs water and correspondingly shrinks when that water evaporates or is absorbed by the roots of landscape plants. This process is a very powerful force. As gumbo clay shrinks or swells the resulting movement in the soil moves and flexes the concrete foundation as well. it damages foundations and forms cracks in a lawn many feet deep.
The result of this heaving of the soil can cause concrete to flex resulting is the sheet metal on the sides of the building to wrinkle (distort) but will generally return to normal as moister content in the soil returns to normal, eventually the effects of the flexing ground will take its toll on the concrete in a more permanent form with cracks. Texwin accepts no responsibility for this act of nature.
